Using aromatherapy for the holidays brings the season to life in your home!
Not everybody likes to turn their house into a winter wonderland, but even a few garlands and candles, and some classics on the stereo, can keep your spirits happy and bright.
That goes for holiday scents, too! A rich, comforting scent can have an immediate impact on your emotions. Using aromatherapy for the holidays is a great way to connect with the season.
Here are some of our favorite essential oils to use in aromatherapy for the holidays:
Clove (Eugenia caryophyllata)
Cardamom (Ellettaria cardamomum)
Cinnamon (Cinnamomum zeylanicum)
Frankincense (Boswellia carterii)
Myrrh (Commiphora myrrha)
Black Spruce (Picea mariana)
Balsam Fir (Abies balsamea)
White Pine (Pinus strobus)
Orange (Citrus sinensis)
Notice any themes? We love spicy oils, conifer oils, and resins at this time of year. Orange snuck its way in there, too. The great thing about aromatherapy for the holidays is that most of these aromas blend so well together. So go ahead and mix and match them however you like! You can get really creative and come up with some amazing holiday aromas.
There are a lot of ways you can use aromatherapy for the holidays, but we’ll focus on two quick, easy ways to brighten up your space and fill it with scent.
Diffuser Blends for the Holidays
Use about 10 drops of essential oil in a diffuser (give or take a few drops, depending on how much water is in your diffuser). Not only does it smell amazing, but depending on the oils you use, it can help disinfect the air of airborne microbes, and boost your respiratory system. Here are a few great blends to try:

Spice & Orange
5 drops orange
3 drops clove
2 drops cardamom
Warm & Bright Forest
5 drops black spruce
2 drops frankincense
3 drops orange
Spice & Resin
5 drops cardamom
3 drops frankincense
3 drops myrrh
Room Sprays for the Holidays
Aromatherapy room sprays scent the room, and don’t always linger in the air as long as diffuser blends. They’re great for spraying on upholstery, curtains, carpets, and all around the room.
The general rule of thumb we go by for room sprays is about 20 drops of essential oil for every 1 oz of water. Feel free to cut the recipes down, or multiply them if you like!
